Amy is a Business Advisor at Small Business BC. She’s worked at Small Business BC for over 10 years, and specializes in general business advising, corporate registry services, tax requirements and industry-specific regulations.
Belinda is a Trade Advisor at Small Business BC and fellow entrepreneur. She has successfully launched several businesses ranging from selling online to trading internationally, shipping to every continent in the world with the exception of Antarctica.

Bridget Field is the Client Services Manager at Small Business BC. A graduate of the UBC Sales and Marketing Management Executives Program, she has over 20 years’ experience in retail management, sales and marketing. Bridget shares her expertise with clients at Small Business BC as well as teaching business courses for local community colleges.
Connie Miao is an Education Coordinator at Small Business BC. Coming from a background involving university education programs and alumni relations, she applies her experience in the Education Centre to coordinate and develop new content relevant to small business communities across the province of BC. She holds a BCom with a specialization in Marketing Co-op from the Sauder School of Business and hopes to become an entrepreneur one day.
A native of Dublin, Ireland, Darren has an extensive background in journalism and content creation that stretches back over a decade. After graduating from college, his career started at Irish sports website Setanta Sports, where he covered British Premier League soccer, something he had dreamed of from a young age.
When the opportunity arose to move to Canada, Vancouver proved an irresistible choice. It was late 2009, the city was on the cusp of hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics, and the buzz around the city was palpable. Like many before him, the city proved irresistible to Darren, and he decided to stay, earning Permanent Resident status in 2013.
Darren began his career at Small Business BC in August 2017. In his position as Content Coordinator he oversees the upkeep of the SBBC and SBBC Awards website, writing articles, developing relationships with external bloggers, and collaborating with industry experts on articles of interest to the SBBC community. Dylan Hrycyshen is a start-up advisor and entrepreneur with a passion for technology, social enterprise and sustainable design. Dylan loves big ideas and the passion that fuels small business.
As a Business Advisor, Dylan uses his community development experience to foster the relationships that accelerate business skill training.
Eyren Uggenti is Small Business BC’s Events Coordinator and resident event expert. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on Marketing Management from Langara College and a Digital Media Design diploma from LaSalle College International Vancouver. Through a detail-oriented focus and his wide array of experience producing events and marketing campaigns, Eyren brings leadership, creativity, and customer service excellence to our flagship programs such as the Small Business BC Awards. His knack for Project Management allows SBBC to realize year-over year improvements in the growth and development of our event products. Eyren also contributes to the stability of the Canadian marketing and communications industry as a board member of the National Advertising Benevolence Society (NABS West) alongside involvement in various other fundraising and support initiatives.
Gary has been a part of Small Business BC for over ten years. Currently, as a Business Service Officer, he advises clients on all aspects of business start-up. During the past six years, Gary started, operated and recently sold his own business.
George Hunter is the CEO of Small Business BC. Since joining in 2009 he has lead the organizational transformation of Small Business BC to become a fully developed social enterprise.
As a visionary executive, George has a proven track record as a pioneer and builder of effective private and not-for-profit organizations in both public and private sectors.
Gill is the Senior Marketing Manager at Small Business BC. She has over 15 years experience in writing content for both internal and external audiences. From multi-million dollar global real-estate proposals to internal communications from the CEO, from educational articles to fun and sassy blogs. Through each role she has learnt from the best about the importance of good content marketing and how it can create opportunities for your business.
Jayme Canotal is a Business Advisor at Small Business BC. She is the resident expert on all of the resources offered at Small Business BC, having coordinated many of the programs including the ‘Ask An Expert’ series as well as the daily seminars in the Education Centre. As a Business Advisor, she advises clients on their business start-ups, providing them with relevant information and directing them to useful resources.
Josh Ludgate is the VP of Operations at Small Business BC. He has a background in leading and building technology and telecom start-ups in Vancouver, as well as international roles with Hewlett Packard Financial Services. He applies his diverse and extensive business experience to help clients successfully plan and grow their business.
As the Business Planning and International Trade Advisor, Laura holds an MBA as well as a Master in International Marketing. She has worked for a broad range of business from international corporations to financial services and not-for-profits; she has also developed and grown her own business. Laura has advised over 300 entrepreneurs from varied industry backgrounds and has been an instructor in Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Management.
Leo Chow is the Education Services Manager at Small Business BC. He comes from a nonprofit background that crosses many boundaries, ranging from after-school programs for children to community health to immigrant employment and more. His work experience also includes university settings and government wage subsidy programs.
Mark is a Market Research Analyst and has worked at Small Business BC for over 10 years. He specializes in helping clients with market research.
Meredith Holmes is the VP of Human Resources at Small Business BC. Meredith is a The Chartered Professional in Human Resources with over ten years combined experience in Human Resources management, performance management, policy design, employee relations, labour relations, training, and employment law. Joining the team in 2015, Meredith is the resident HR expert responsible for all human resources functions for Small Business BC.
Roop Johal is the Outreach Coordinator at Small Business BC. With her passion for production and community engagement she has worked on a number of both small and large scale private and business events. Her years of experience in the event production industry along with her involvement on community event boards allows her to apply her skill set in developing and managing event partnerships related to small business communities within BC.
Sara Clark is the Head of Strategic Projects at Small Business BC, currently overseeing a number of special programs and government initiatives. In addition to her previous SBBC roles as the VP and Director of Marketing, she holds a Certificate in Advanced Project Management, a diploma in Marketing Management and a Bachelor's degree from the University of British Columbia. Sara also contributes as an Advisory Board Member for the Langara College School of Management.
Shelley brings over 10 years of work experience in the not-for-profit and educational services sector as a program coordinator, advisor, facilitator, and case manager to her role as Education Advisor at Small Business BC. She has worked with diverse populations such as new immigrants, youth at-risk, seniors, and those experiencing mental illness.
Shelley also has a background in health and fitness, earning her Personal Training Certification. She worked as a self-employed mobile personal trainer for three years, and graduated from UBC with a social sciences degree in Psychology.
Shirley Hui is one of two Education Advisors for the Canada-BC Job Grant program at Small Business BC. She has a background in adult education and corporate training, which includes working with a variety of small and medium-sized businesses. Shirley also has experience in the areas of customer service, cross-cultural communication and career development.
Tuan Pham is a Business Consultant at Small Business BC. He studied Business Administration at Capilano University before embarking on an eclectic career in hospitality, travel, sales, and the non-profit sector in Cambodia and the Philippines.
Tuan is a strong believer in empowering people with the knowledge and tools to better themselves, something he brings to his role at Small Business BC. When he’s not coaching entrepreneurs, you’ll find him performing an admirable impression of Bob Ross while painting watercolours, or enduring the highs and lows involved in being a devoted fan of the Vancouver Canucks.
