Business Resources for LGBTQ2S Entrepreneurs

Did you know: There are approximately 28,000 LGBTQ2S-owned businesses in Canada?

Despite the many advances we’ve made as a society in the field of diversity, many Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Queer and Two Spirit individuals in Canada still face barriers to success in the workplace. A recent Telus survey on workplace diversity noted the following findings:

  • 57 per cent of respondents aren’t fully “out” in the workplace
  • 22 per cent were worried they’d face a hostile reaction
  • 15 per cent were concerned about missing out on career advancement due to their sexuality; and
  • 10 per cent reported they were worried about their personal safety in the workplace

Against this backdrop, many LGBTQS2 individuals have decided to take matters into their own hands, creating diverse and thriving small businesses across Canada. These businesses generate over $22 billion in economic activity and employ over 435,000 Canadians. In other words, LGBTQ2S business is big business.

If you’re an entrepreneur looking to follow in their footsteps and become an entrepreneur. We’ve put together a list of dedicated business resources for LGBTQ2S Entrepreneurs.
