The 2024 Small Business BC Awards Launch Mid-June
The 2024 Small Business BC Awards open for nominations and voting in mid-June. We’re putting together a special competition for our 21st Anniversary, and we can’t wait to celebrate BC’s incredible entrepreneurial community once again. Here’s everything you need to know to get ready for our launch.
Nomination and Voting
This year, our nomination and voting period will run for approximately two months, from mid-June to mid-August. Nominees should use this time to gather as many votes as possible to ensure they progress to the next phase of the competition – judging. It’s recommended to enter the competition as early as possible but even businesses that enter late have found success. It’s all about how effectively you mobilize your community to vote for you.
Categories
This year, businesses can enter a total of two categories – our Premier’s People’s Choice Award and one of three Business Pitch Categories. Visit each of our category pages and learn how to prepare your business for success.
People’s Choice Award Category – the winner will be selected based on the most votes (after a normalization process to allow for regional populations).
Included Categories:
Business Pitch Award Category – Top 5 finalists will be selected based on the most votes (after a normalization process to allow for regional populations) and an internal panel of business experts who judge the written responses from each business nomination.
These top 5 finalists then pitch to a panel of BC business leaders who judge which business should win.

Prizing
This year, our cash prize pool is $20,000. Each of our four category winners will take home a cheque for $5,000.
Our Top 5 finalists also receive a one-year, all-access pass to business education and advisory services, and valuable media exposure. Our Top 3 in each category will also receive professional marketing shareables. Past finalists have featured on CBC, Global News, CityTV, Forbes, and various local outlets.
Gala Reception
We’ll crown the winners of this year’s Small Business BC Awards at a Gala Reception in November. This in-person gathering is always a highlight of the calendar as we meet our winning businesses, hear inspiring stories with a community of influential business leaders, politicians, and hundreds of engaged community members. We’ll have further details to share on exact venue and date in the months to come.
