BirthPrep Yoga is a 6-week prenatal yoga series online that prepares and empowers women for birth through movement and education. I have been teaching prenatal yoga online for over a decade and when the pandemic hit, I moved my classes online and it opened up a door to reach women and empower them for birth from the comfort of home. I do this by teaching 6 classes to LIVE audiences in all trimesters on Sundays at 10 am, PST on Zoom. These classes are based around themes that will help women prepare their body & mind for birth, they include: Week 1: The Pelvic Floor Week 2: Positive Birth Affirmations Week 3: Positions of Baby in the Pelvis Week 4: Breathing Techniques for Pregnancy, Labor & Delivery Week 5: Pregnancy and Posture Week 6: Release all Fears around Birth to Birth with Confidence & Ease with a powerful meditation & movement Students who miss live classes can login to my online portal: https://www.birthprepyogaondemand.com/, and do a prenatal yoga class & download a educational handout prepared by birthing experts like midwives, chiropractors and pelvic floor physiotherapists. My online portal is something I recently launched in September 2022, so expecting moms can do the series all on their own (if the LIVE class dates don’t work for them), with a 1 month, 3 month, 6 month or 12 month membership option here: https://www.birthprepyogaondemand.com/ My 6-week signature program informs women about birth, gets them exercising and I believe, helps kick-start a positive postpartum experience, where they feel strong, trust their intuition, speak their concerns and step into their power. People's Choice
Why do you think you should win the Premier’s People’s Choice Award?
When you can positively impact a woman's birth, it leaves a lasting affect on her physical, mental and emotional well-being, not to mention the impact on her baby, her other children and her community. A “negative childbirth experience has been associated with PTSD and depression in the postpartum period.” (National Library of Medicine). I believe by reaching woman at home and online, I give them a safe space to move their bodies, connect with a supportive online community to ask questions and feel empowered as mothers. BirthPrep Yoga deserves to win the Premier’s People’s Choice Award because when we can lift up mothers in a community, everyone is lifted up.
E-Commerce Experience Award
How have you optimized your e-commerce store to create a strong user experience for your community, (through content, education, reviews etc.) and what results have you achieved?
This has been the biggest learning curve for me and absolutely I have learned to grow and create a strong user experience with my community of expecting moms in all trimesters. As soon as they sign up, they get immediate access to my online portal with: - over 30 of my best prenatal yoga videos to get them exercising (I add a new video every 2 weeks). Exercise during pregnancy helps with mood, energy, sleep and with all the common aches and pains associated with pregnancy. - Videos with experts in the birthing world (I created a section called guest speakers: https://www.birthprepyogaondemand.com/categories/guest-speakers often birthing experts are very busy and this allows them to share key information about birth & I am always connecting with and adding new guest speakers (I just filmed one today on: What to expect for a C-Section that I will add next week). - with helpful downloads to print, like The Stages of Labor, and what to pack in your hospital bag (I am always adding on new and updated information) and I can message users instantly in the backend to let them know new content has been added. Why do you deserve to win the E-commerce Experience Award?
I believe we need more women in tech. I believe BirthPrep Yoga should win the E-commerce Experience Award because it has opened up a new world of possibility for real, deep connection during an important (and vulnerable) time in a woman's life. I love being able to turn on my top notch equipment ( 3 lights, 3 cameras and Rhode mic ) and open up Zoom and instantly connect with women in all trimesters of pregnancy. Through the computer screen, I have been able to share my gift of yoga and bring together experts in the birthing world to share valuable information about birth to help prepare and empower women for the most incredible life changing event: the birth of their baby(ies). I believe that the beautiful platform I use to upload my high quality videos to, customer experience of these videos and overall outcome (giving women valuable tools and information for birth) is exactly what all women need in preparation for childbirth.
