THUMN’SDINNERCLUBB (TDC): Where Good Food, Good Company, and Good Times Meet My name is Thumn Al-Rawe, founder of TDC. Twelve years ago, I moved from the Middle East to Vancouver, a city I've proudly called home ever since. My inspiration comes from my father, an incredible chef who owned a restaurant back home. TDC is dedicated to him and the culinary legacy he passed down. TDC is more than just a dinner club—it's a social hub where creatives, artists, and industry professionals can gather to share delicious meals, make new connections, and leave with a fresh hobby or two. Our dinners and dishes are crafted to bring people together, with food as both our art and our sword. Our logo, the "Babushka Lady," embodies the power of food and the spirit of the people who create it. She strides forward, fork in hand, representing the strength and influence of food in our lives. Whether it reminds you of your own grandmother or someone else who’s made an impact, the Babushka Lady symbolizes the nurturing and empowering force that food can be. Join me as I take you on this journey of connection, creativity, and community through the universal language of food.

Best Youth Entrepreneur

What motivated you to start your business and what is your vision for the future of the company?

My motivation to start THUMN’SDINNERCLUBB (TDC) stems from my deep-rooted love for food and the powerful memories it holds for me. Growing up, my father was an extraordinary chef who owned a restaurant in the Middle East. His passion for cooking and his ability to bring people together around the table left a lasting impression on me. After moving to Vancouver 12 years ago, I found myself longing for that same sense of connection and community that food can create. I wanted to honor my father’s legacy by creating a space where people could gather, share, and bond over a meal. My vision for TDC is to grow it into a thriving community that transcends the traditional dining experience. I envision TDC as a hub where people can learn new skills, discover new passions, and build relationships that extend far beyond the dinner table. In the future, I hope to expand TDC’s reach by hosting larger events, offering workshops, and collaborating with other local businesses to create a network of like-minded individuals who are passionate about food, art, and community. Ultimately, my goal is to create a legacy of my own, one that honors my father’s influence while fostering a new generation of connections through the universal language of food.

My journey has been about more than just personal success; it’s been about building a community where everyone feels valued and included. Being a youth entrepreneur means embracing innovation, resilience, and a willingness to take risks. I’ve embraced these qualities as I’ve grown TDC, constantly pushing myself to think outside the box and find new ways to bring people together through food and shared experiences. Winning the Premier’s People’s Choice Award would be an incredible honor for THUMN’SDINNERCLUBB (TDC) because our mission goes beyond serving food—we are dedicated to building a community that brings people together through shared experiences.
