Simpli Boards is an online dental education company dedicated to making dental education more affordable and accessible. By transitioning to digital teaching methods, we've reduced the cost of preparation for dental board examinations by 40%. We aim to continue making education more economical, setting a new standard in the field. This approach lowers the barriers for aspiring dental professionals and positively impacts the cost and delivery of dental services. Currently, we offer services to Dentists- foreign-trained dentists or graduates from the US/Canada who would like to take the board exam for a license or further education. We already have over 2000 sign-ups in our various processes and would like to grow further to complete our vision of making quality education at affordable cost.

Business Impact Award

Tell Us Your Story. What motivated you to start your business? Why are you passionate about what you do?

My motivation came from my first-hand experience. Being an internationally trained dentist who has cleared the US dental boards and is completing the Canadian Boards, I figured out the gaps a dentist has to go through in terms of the license and admission process. Most people had to choose either a Job or education, and the fees for the preparations were absorbent. There was very limited online education for the board exam then. And then, COVID came in and ignited the process of the online world. I capitalized on this opportunity and started with $10 per lecture for US Dental Exam prep. It was a super hit project as we emphasized problem-based teaching and critical thinking development, not conventional classroom teaching. I have been a dentist trainer in my home country, and teaching has been my passion since high school. However, having spent nearly $60,000 for my license so far, I feel the pain of financial burden, which constantly motivates me to make things more affordable for others.

Describe and demonstrate, including metrics, your community support. How do you support and uplift your community, and how do they show that support in return? Minimum 25 words, maximum 2500 characters.

The report suggests a projected shortfall of around 5,000 dentists by 2028 due to the lack of qualified candidates to fill vacancies, particularly in outskirt areas. The numbers are higher for dental specialists, dental assistants, and hygienists. We aim to fill the gap by making education more accessible and affordable. Moreover, the financial burden and job loss numbers will also be decreased as our courses can be accessed at the customer's convenience, and most classes happen on weekends through Zoom only. So far response from the society has been decent, many enthusiastic individuals who has passion to teach wanted to be part of this social initiates. We have unmatchable first time pass percentage of over 99%. for US boards and last year we launched our services for Canadian boards and we had 78% of pass for two of our initial batches.

Why do you deserve to win the Business Impact award?

As a Canadian company, we face fierce competition with counterparts south of the border. Recognition, such as an award from your esteemed organization, would be a tremendous boost for our ambitious project. It would not only put us in the spotlight but also attract potential investors and philanthropists for future collaborations.

Tell Us About Your Culture. How are you creating a sustainable and healthy workplace where everyone feels welcome? Provide examples of leadership you show in interactions with clients, vendors, contractors, staff and others.

We invite people to join us who share the same thoughts about making dental education more affordable. Everyone on our team works mostly remotely, so office-bearing costs are almost nill. We have very flexible working hours so there is no pressure of fixed time. All our vacancies are open to all, and we previously partnered with Work BC to assist in hiring the most suitable clients. We screen all those who meet the eligibility criteria using the Gorilla test, which helps us to remove bias or prejudice. After hire, we will provide two weeks of training for all. Being a founder, I love to connect myself with each client or vendors or partners and make them understand our vision and mission. Most of the partners or vendors so far have been considerate so far in terms of giving deals and offers. I would like to give an example of our payment plan option provider Sezzle here. We wanted to give our customer buy now pay later options but most of the companies wanted minimum fixed turnover transactions and hence our applications were rejected. Even by the Sezzle. I requested the Sales head for a meetings and presented an small presentation about our mission and goal. Within hours of that they changed the status of our rejection to approved. Having payment option gives our customers a great sense of ease to do the business with us. I read all the reviews and feedback and always do time to time quality assurance to be better in our services.
