Queen's Academy is a community based program in Burnaby and Coquitlam offering afterschool programs, summer camps, weekly production classes, and music lessons. Our vision is a community where diverse voices are celebrated, where children feel valued, empowered to express, and has the opportunity to experience a performing arts education.

What motivated you to start your business and what is your vision for the future of the company?

Queen was driven to establish Queen’s Academy out of her firm belief in the transformative power of performing arts for children. Having taught musical theatre programs since 2013, she witnessed firsthand how arts education can build confidence, foster creativity, and instil essential life skills in young minds. Queen’s dedication to ensuring every child benefits from a performing arts experience led her to found Queen’s Academy, where inclusivity and accessibility are core values. Looking ahead, Queen envisions expanding Queen’s Academy’s reach and impact. Her goal is to continue creating a nurturing and supportive environment where children of all backgrounds feel valued and empowered through creative expression. Queen is currently pursuing further education to enhance her teaching qualifications, reflecting her commitment to continuously improve the quality of education offered at the academy.

Queen deserves to win the Best Youth Entrepreneur Award for her unwavering dedication to empowering children through the arts. Her journey from a young age, discovering her passion and advocating tirelessly for children in her community, exemplifies her grit and determination. Queen’s personal experiences with students like Mahliya, whom she supported and nurtured over the years, demonstrate her profound impact on young lives. Under Queen’s leadership, Queen’s Academy has grown to benefit over 500 children, providing affordable and inclusive musical theatre programs that foster confidence, teamwork, and joy. Queen stands out for her innovative initiatives such as the sliding scale fee structure and tailored accommodations, ensuring that all children, regardless of their background or abilities, have opportunities to thrive in the performing arts. Queen’s personal involvement in enhancing her teaching skills and her vibrant engagement in community activities highlight her as a role model for aspiring youth entrepreneurs. Queen’s Academy celebrates diversity in all its forms! They are an LGBTQ+, women, neurodiversity, disability, and Black-owned business committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable program. At 23 years old, Queen is the sole founder and artistic director of Queen’s Academy exemplifying excellence in entrepreneurship by combining passion, resilience, innovation, and a deep commitment to empowering children through the arts. Her vision for the future promises continued growth and impact, making her a deserving candidate for the Best Youth Entrepreneur Award.

Queen's Academy deserves the Premier’s People’s Choice Award because we are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in our community through accessible children's musical theatre programs. Our commitment to inclusivity and empowerment allows us to connect and support more families and nurture a sense of belonging among children in Burnaby and Coquitlam. Winning this award would not only honour our efforts but also amplify our mission to create a community where every child feels valued and empowered.
