Business Impact Award

Tell Us Your Story. What motivated you to start your business? Why are you passionate about what you do?

Ammar Sikandar and Roger Dusanj started Kingsmen Capital in 2016. They were determined to provide Canadian Businesses owners with access to expert advice and the best bank alternative financing options to suit their needs. As entrepreneurs themselves, they understand the needs and struggles of small business and their goal is to ensure that businesses are able to get the funds they need to grow and thrive. When a client is not in a position to acquire the funds they are looking for, they help business owners develop an action plan to help move their business into a position where they can qualify.

Describe and demonstrate, including metrics, your community support. How do you support and uplift your community, and how do they show that support in return? Minimum 25 words, maximum 2500 characters.

The entire Kingsmen team understands how important it is to give back to our communities. Everyone in our team actively look for ways to contribute time, effort and financial support through donations and especially taking part as volunteers and board members for local community support groups. Kingsmen as a company have worked closely with the BC Children's hospital for fund raising and we are currently in the process of partnering with One Tree to support their focus on reforestation for BC and AB after the recent wildfires. Roger and Ammar have also contributed to a large number of wells being developed across rural areas of 3rd world countries to provide clean drinking water to local populations. Roger works closely with local food banks every Sunday and is a hockey coach for a local youth hockey team. Ammar is a Director on the board for the Support Local BC not for profit which was established to promote, lobby and create awareness for local businesses. He is also a Director for AMPC, a not for profit organization that works with MPPs and the diplomatic corps promoting Canadian Diversity, interreligious dialogues and showcasing Canadian businesses.

Why do you deserve to win the Business Impact award?

We believe strongly that we deserve to win the Business Impact award for our contribution in helping 1000s of local businesses during the COVID shutdowns get access to the capital needed to survive the crisis. With the added incentive to find more solutions for our clients to suit their needs, we have been working in close collaboration with various partners to create new programs which are will enable Canadian businesses to continue to succeed and grow in these ongoing turbulent economic times. We have established a unique product that will help Canadian small businesses who are unable to qualify for financing through their bank reach their next goal or to consolidate and free up their working capital. Kingsmen Capital is a strong advocate for small businesses in Canada and this award would be one we can share proudly to build even more creditability for our company, generating more awareness and allowing us to assist more businesses.

Tell Us About Your Culture. How are you creating a sustainable and healthy workplace where everyone feels welcome? Provide examples of leadership you show in interactions with clients, vendors, contractors, staff and others.

Kingsmen Capital has a work culture that provides all of their employees, referral partners and contractors with opportunities to grow in their positions and responsibilities. Employee efforts and loyalty are recognized and rewarded at all levels and across all departments. Our leadership and senior management believe in the "work hard, play hard" philosophy and the importance of finding a balance between your professional and personal life with an emphasis that "family comes first".
