Business Impact Award

Tell Us Your Story. What motivated you to start your business? Why are you passionate about what you do?

From the very beginning I have been hyper focussed on loss mitigation education. My marketing efforts have always been education centric vs the typical sales pitch approach; more of an evidence based approach. This is why my website is designed the way it is. More recently I have ramped up my public service efforts starting with the creation of a Facebook Page dedicated to public awareness on crime and criminal awareness. BC Crime Watch has over 16K followers, including many media and law enforcement profiles. This is the link https://www.facebook.com/share/beJLBSJFHb3cvTCJ/?mibextid=qi2Omg I also run a Block Watch group in my neighbourhood of 420 homes and am a strong advocate for the Block Watch Society of BC and the various municipal Block Watch organizations across British Columbia. As an extension of this I have recently become involved with FireSmart BC as a volunteer LFR (local firesmart representative) for Delta, with a focus on education and integrating FireSmart with Block Watch. More information on my Block Watch / FireSmart efforts can be found at www.sunshinewoods.ca

Describe and demonstrate, including metrics, your community support. How do you support and uplift your community, and how do they show that support in return? Minimum 25 words, maximum 2500 characters.

This was covered in the above section. I am currently working on a large Block Watch BBQ for my neighbourhood. In June I put together a Communuty Safety / FireSmart Forum at the North Delta Centre for the Arts. Information on this event can be found at www.sunshinewoods.ca/forum this was featured on CBC News

Why do you deserve to win the Business Impact award?

From the very beginning I have been more focussed on the effect of my activities on the community at large, vs simply making the sale.

Tell Us About Your Culture. How are you creating a sustainable and healthy workplace where everyone feels welcome? Provide examples of leadership you show in interactions with clients, vendors, contractors, staff and others.

I feel this is covered in my volunteer activities in the area of Loss mitigation education.

People's Choice

Why do you think you should win the Premier’s People’s Choice Award?

This would be up to the public but I feel my volunteer contributions to loss mitigation education across various risk categories even outside of the offerings of KeepSafe Systems qualify me for this category. Here is an example of my work with FireSmart BC https://www.facebook.com/share/r/iSK8jm8MWnJpZBkk/?mibextid=oGgwdE
