Best Youth Entrepreneur

What motivated you to start your business and what is your vision for the future of the company?

The saying that "to be a doctor, you must also be an entrepreneur" was something that was often overlooked and ignored in the healthcare field. Especially as part of the private health sector, I knew that for people to experience and witness my clinical pearls and expertise, they had to find me, hear me, and be around me. When I started my private practice, I realized I had to get more people to know about the medicine that is not very well known. I chose to influence my community in optimizing their health authentically by getting the word out through captivating health talks, social media engagements, and activities. What motivates me is sharing my passion for optimal health. Health is so much more than the absence of disease, and being "normal" is not necessarily healthy. Our bodies are resilient, and conditions take time to progress. Recognizing subtle signs and understanding the message behind symptoms allows us to respect our bodies' signals and take proper proactive action before conditions arise. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Over the past six years, I have built a six-figure solo practice within the first three years and have positively impacted thousands of patients. I have inspired tens of thousands of attendees at various presentations and speaking engagements. My vision is to build a clinic space that would influence and emphasize improving the overall health of the community, especially in cognitive health and dementia prevention. I want to be recognized as a central location for the treatment, prevention, and optimization of those touched by dementia or cognitive decline. This includes building a cohesive team to address the needs of the public. Care is not simply provided by one healthcare practitioner but requires an integrative approach and team including a nutritionist, occupational therapist, nurse practitioner, and medical physician. I also envision having an in-house program targeted at optimizing cognitive health and focusing on dementia prevention for the general public. Education is key, and encouraging the public to understand that dementia is preventable is crucial.

My flourishing practice is now expanding, a clear reflection of the profound difference I have made in the community. With over two thousand patient visits since July 2018, my influence stretches across Canada, including Saskatoon, Ottawa, and Toronto, and beyond, attracting patients from as far as Costa Rica, Hong Kong, and Singapore, all seeking my expertise in cognitive health and naturopathic dementia care. I have received over 100 Google Reviews with a 4.9/5 star average. I have built my practice from scratch and am now earning at least 3x more than what I have earned in my first years. My gross income started off at approximately 40k in my first year to over 150k in my most recent year, and on the path of making more this 2024 year compared to last year. In a world rife with misinformation, I stand out by embracing evidence-based approaches, diligently compiling and sharing knowledge with my patients and the broader community. My commitment to bettering community health is not just about treating symptoms but addressing the root causes, ultimately reducing the economic burden of disease management. I continuously seek improvement in my knowledge, having completed additional studies including a Master's degree in Aging and Health, and currently pursuing a PhD in Aging and Health from Queen's University on top of my private practice, community engagements, and teaching of future naturopathic physicians.
