Donatic App Inc

Abbotsford, Mainland/Southwest

Donatic is a donation platform which empowers donors to choose their impact towards causes they want to support. Donors are able to purchase from a list of supplies that fundraisers need, which are then directly delivered to the fundraisers. This also streamlines the process for fundraisers, as they simply list what they need, and later receive the items.

Business Impact Award

Tell Us Your Story. What motivated you to start your business? Why are you passionate about what you do?

Amy had the idea of being able to donate physical items online many years ago. Last year, she slowly started working on how that would actually work. The goal is to give donors transparency and create a new channel of donations for nonprofits and organizations to receive support. Amy is a software developer with a decade of experience, and was looking to build something that would have a real-world impact. Since launching the pilot for Donatic, the best part has been working with nonprofits, and seeing how they are benefiting from the platform by using it as a fundraising tool. Ultimately, what drives Amy is being able to serve organizations that are working on making a direct impact in their local communities, while empowering donors to choose how they want to support those causes.

Describe and demonstrate, including metrics, your community support. How do you support and uplift your community, and how do they show that support in return? Minimum 25 words, maximum 2500 characters.

Since December 2023, Donatic has received on average 3 donations per month, with an average value of $320 per donation. This past month has been the month with the highest number of donations so far, with a total of 5. These donations have gone to support animal welfare organizations, and women and children's centres. Specifically, school supplies, hygienic feminine products, and clinic supplies such as gloves, leashes and crates. In return, the organizations have shared their Donatic campaigns, and their experiences using Donatic on social media. They continue to rally for more support via their Donatic pages.

Why do you deserve to win the Business Impact award?

Donatic is a good candidate for the Business Impact award because it's entire existence is based on serving the community, directly and indirectly. Directly, by facilitating donations for donors, providing them with total control and transparency in how they support the causes that matter most to them. Indirectly, by creating a platform for organizations to receive these tangible of donations of supplies, which are later used to serve the community.

Tell Us About Your Culture. How are you creating a sustainable and healthy workplace where everyone feels welcome? Provide examples of leadership you show in interactions with clients, vendors, contractors, staff and others.

Currently, there is only one person in the company, which is the jack of all trades, Amy. She is doing everything from branding, marketing, partnerships, customer support, engineering and operations. She is a big proponent of a healthy work-life balance, and in spite of building Donatic as a solopreneur, does not sacrifice personal health, and prioritizes time to surf, run and just be with her friends, family and community. She demonstrates leadership when she meets with local organizations to better understand their current operations and fundraising efforts so that she can in turn make their processes better, and more efficient. When working with contractors, which up to now, has mostly been with marketing-related matters, she allows the experts to be the experts, while guiding the overall vision and making sure we stay on track with each goal.
