Best Youth Entrepreneur

What motivated you to start your business and what is your vision for the future of the company?

I have poured my heart and soul into this business ever since I can remember. I traveled Asia for 6 months when I was 20, and I had an epiphany when I was sitting on a beach by myself. My vision was crystal clear that I would own and operate a food truck business as my way of giving back to the community, and when I was 25, after a huge amount of work, my vision became realty. I love cooking, and feeding happy people is one of my favorite past times. My most vivid memories of my life involve sharing meals with people I love, and I set out to make a business so that people from all walks of life could have the same experience. My future vision for the company is starting another food truck and/or franchising within the next 5 years. Franchising would be a very cool experience because a lot of people that I've talked to consider starting a business intimidating (which it is!), and I could guide new business owners on the right path with the information I now know about owning and operating a food truck business.

Why do you deserve to win the Best Youth Entrepreneur Award?

I started this business when I was 25 years old having no previous business/ manager or professional culinary experience, and have been running it for the past 4 years now. Most of my "free time" goes towards the business. "How can I make it better? How can I be a better leader? How can I give back to the community more?" are thoughts that are constantly running through my head. I am proud of my efforts towards the company, such as being a leader that employees can look up to, learning marketing strategies, and managing the financials, book keeping, and payroll. I have learned so much in the past 4 years, and I am always looking for ways that the business can be improved.

People's Choice

Why do you think you should win the Premier’s People’s Choice Award?

To win the Premier's People's Choice Award would be an absolutely incredible experience, and it would give me a chance to give back to my beautiful community more than I do already. I would donate $5000 to our local food bank as I deeply feel that food security is a right, not a privilege. Half of the remaining money would go towards solar panels to make the food truck even more sustainable. The other half would be used to help ease the stress of summer season "start up" inventory costs. I would be ever so grateful to win this amazing award, and a whole community would benefit from it.
