Stemhouse Floral Studio

Fernie, Kootenay

Stemhouse Floral Studio was birthed in the Rocky Mountains of Canada by Kealy Schulze and Katlyn Corak and is located in Fernie, B.C.These two creative individuals are inspired by nature and their surroundings, ever changing design trends, and never ending love for flowers. Stemhouse Floral Studio is solely devoted to flowers and house plants, always aiming to stay up to date with the current trends, while still being able to accommodate all styles. Both owners are fully educated in design and technique, ensuring our customers receive the best product available. To date both owners have been actively designing within the community and surrounding areas, and pride themselves on being a part of the community and making lasting connections with not only local residents, but also returning tourists. Kealy Schulze obtained a Practical Applied Arts Degree through Medicine Hat College, where she fine-tuned her marketing, web design, graphic design, and other visual arts skills. She completed her practicum with Banff Mountaintop Flowers, where she furthered her floral design, eventually taking over management of the business. Katlyn Corak obtained her Advanced Diploma in Interior Design, through The Interior Design Institute of Sydney, and her Certificate III in Floristry Design, through TAFE Illawarra, Australia. She completed her practicum through Bunches Florist in Wollongong, and went on to work for several other florists, eventually owning her own shop. Upon moving back to Canada in 2019, Katlyn accepted a job at Banff Mountain Top Flowers where she met Kealy and the two have been inseparable ever since.

People's Choice

Why do you think you should win the Premier’s People’s Choice Award?

I believe Stemhouse Floral Studio should win the Premier's People Choice Award, as we truly believe that flowers are for everyone and always ensure that every customer, regardless of budget, feels welcomed, safe and respected in our space. Our 2023 goals are to continue to reduce waste, give back to our community more with NFPs such as Twin Meadows Animal Rescue Society, The Elk Valley Suicide Task Force, and Fernie Pride Society, and continue to stay educated/up to date on the latest trends and techniques. Winning this award would allow us to invest in more sustainable business practices, while still being able to give back to our community.
