Founder and Principal of Blenz Coffee, Interior Region BC
David McDougall is founder and principal of Blenz Coffee in the interior region of BC, where he established the leading premium coffee franchise chain in Kamloops, Vernon, Kelowna, West Kelowna, and Penticton. In this capacity he provides ongoing counsel and support to new entrepreneurs in their business establishment, access to capital, business management, market development, and financial and human resources management.
Says David: ‘Small businesses are important to economic development in British Columbia. They are job creators and drivers of our local economies. Prior to 2004, he was Chief Financial Officer and General Manager of a successful industrial instrumentation manufacturer in the Vancouver-area, where he led electronic hardware and software product evolution and new product development to secure expanded market share and sales across markets in North America, Europe, Asia, and South America. During this time the company achieved ISO9001 certification, implemented an enterprise-wide ERP, and implemented TQM in its manufacturing processes.
He also has experience in aboriginal business development, as Western Regional Director, Industry Canada. He is a past member of the Executive Council, Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (BC). Currently he is a member of the board of the Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission.
He holds the CPA and CMA accounting designations, and is a graduate of the University of Calgary and the executive development program at Queen’s University.
