Business Services Consultant

We are seeking a motivated individual with a passion for providing entrepreneurs with products and services to assist them with their successful entry into small business ventures. Reporting to the Client Services Manager and Education Manager, this position is the first point of contact for SBBC’s clients and is responsible for the delivery of high quality customer service and sales to clients in a fast-paced environment.


  • Monitors and maintains client reception area and provides front-line counter, telephone and email customer service and sales to clients of SBBC
  • Triage clients and refer them to internal and/or external resources, products and services, including conducting needs assessments, and initiates the appropriate action or referral to Business Advisors or Analysts for further service or assessment
  • Processes payments, schedules client appointments and follows up with Business Advisors
  • Schedules room rentals and books facilities
  • Responsible for the daily operational aspects of the SBBC’s Education Centre, including: opening and closing duties, room and equipment set-up, assisting seminar attendees and facilitators and maintaining education services materials
  • Maintains and posts education listings in the registration system and on the SBBC website, as well as assists with webinar set-up and monitoring
  • Performs confirmations for speakers and Ask the Expert bookings
  • Assists with the development of education programming
  • Promotes SBBC products and services by delivering various outreach activities
  • Provides administrative assistance for Client Services and Education Centre, including replenishing publications, photocopying, sorting and filing, and removing out of date information
  • Enters client contact and interaction information into SBBC’s CRM
  • Performs other job-related duties as required


  • A degree or diploma in Sales and Marketing, Business Management, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, or Commerce, and extensive Customer Service experience, or an equivalent blend of education and business-related experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in business administration, sales and/or customer service
  • Experience with working in an office environment, coordinating schedules and appointments and managing confidential material and information with discretion
  • Experience with public speaking / delivering presentations
  • General knowledge of a wide variety of business subjects, including small business practices
  • Excellent communication skills (in-person, email, telephone)
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, P.O.S, Outlook, CRM and Registrations Systems
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service under pressure and deal with multiple priorities
  • Ability to work in French is considered an asset, as well as additional languages (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese or Farsi)

  • BCGEU Level: Range 11, step 1 $1,688.61 bi-weekly (non-negotiable)

  • Benefits: Full benefits package after the completion of 3 months.
