Business Impact Award

Tell Us Your Story. What motivated you to start your business? Why are you passionate about what you do?

We felt that we wanted to create a space of healing and safety no matter what background you come from. We found working previously in other clinics did not give us the same feeling. Our space continues to grow with practitioners who are genuine in their care and accessible at the same time. Our intention is to keep expanding our space holistically so that people know that there are other ways to support your overall healing. At zenactive, we genuinely want our clients to get better and often work together to create this. We find that by working together holistically that are clients often get better and only come back for maintenance and this is the goal; to facilitate healing.

Describe and demonstrate, including metrics, your community support. How do you support and uplift your community, and how do they show that support in return? Minimum 25 words, maximum 2500 characters.

We host community fairs at our space every season to offer free treatment to those in need and to those who are looking for alternative healing methodologies. Our aim is to promote health and wellness and have it be accessible at the same time. Our community is very important to us and we often gift our clients with treats from our zenactive garden when ready.

Why do you deserve to win the Business Impact award?

We deserve the business impact award because we have been a big player in offering our services in the heights. We often donate our time to our community by attending events for free, offering services and consultations for free and wanting to add to the Burnaby Heights community. We do work to support others so that the healing conversation can continue beyond our wellness space. The prize money would go towards expanding our space by adding materials that can further support our therapists and community. Small businesses mean a lot to us and we often find that collaborating with others has been helping in spreading the word of health.

Tell Us About Your Culture. How are you creating a sustainable and healthy workplace where everyone feels welcome? Provide examples of leadership you show in interactions with clients, vendors, contractors, staff and others.

A safe space to healing was our main intention in creating zenactive. When receiving care, it is important that our practitioners stay present and hold space for anyone walking through our doors. We often have meetings with our team members where we share skill, talk about what we find in treatment and how we can progress individually and as a therapist in general. Owners, Maki and Aliyah do their best to check in with their team so that there is always flow and authenticity in our space.
