Whether you need us helping a grandparent in a long term care facility or treating a child in the comfort of their own home, our dedicated team of health practitioners has the skills and resources to manage all your health needs. Mobile dental hygiene practices are an innovative way to bring dental hygienists, dentists, and dental care to you! We offer full basic dental appointments that include teeth cleaning, dental examination, dental x-rays, polish, fluoride, and more in your own home to ensure a comprehensive, patient-focused, and non-restrictive way of accessing your dental care. We even take care of the direct billing with insurances to make your dental appointments easy and comfortable. Our services can be provided out of our comfortable and luxurious dental van, or we can roll our equipment to you in-home, at-work, bedside, or in your wheelchair.

Best Youth Entrepreneur
What motivated you to start your business and what is your vision for the future of the company?
Our independent dental hygiene practitioner and principle hygienist, Jackie Tong, travelled into northern BC during her university studies and met many youths in rural areas. She was told stories about having no access to dental care, needing to drive hours and hours out of town to see a dentist, and how most of the community requested teeth extractions so they could get dentures instead! It broke her heart to learn about these health disparities. She decided to start a mobile dental hygiene practice to increase accessibility to oral health care across the province, breaking barriers to what should be a basic human right. Her vision is to expand mobile and brick and mortar hygiene practices in every region of BC, ensuring everyone has adequate accessibility regardless of their physical and geographical circumstances. She also plans on hiring and sponsoring locals to promote leadership and action from within communities, allowing them to have more control over their work, earn more, and to have an impact in the well-being of their hometowns.
Why do you deserve to win the Best Youth Entrepreneur Award?
Jackie Tong has dreamt about impacting dentistry on a provincial scale since university. Her passion, dedication, and hard work drove her to build The Travelling Hygienist and expand its mission every year. She wants to make a real paradigm shift in BC's oral health status, and to do so with each community's local hygienists who want to make a difference. The endless nights, thousands of kilometers driven, and 15 hour days are all but a small sacrifice to serve every beautiful inch of the province.

Why do you think you should win the Premier’s People’s Choice Award?
We go above and beyond to ensure oral health is truly accessible by everyone in BC! Not only do we commute to our patients, no matter how far away they are, but we also have a free dental program that serves vulnerable individuals who need oral health care. We truly believe in communities supporting each other to improve society as a whole, and this is our way of spreading the privileges of mainland city health care to the villages and reservations of BC. Those who are most vulnerable receive the least help; please support us in breaking barriers to what should be a basic human right-- vote The Travelling Hygienist to help us raise the oral health wellness and health care of our beautiful province!
