Business Impact Award

Tell Us Your Story. What motivated you to start your business? Why are you passionate about what you do?

I started Styled Staging and Design as I had been helping friends for years unpack and setup their spaces. My passion for giving service to others in non-profit found me needing outlets for my mental health and wanting to beautify the world, no matter how little I had to work with. I believe everyone should experience the feelings of a safe, comfortable space,no matter the size and ability to provide for one's self. Becoming a Certified Staging Professional helped me utilize my inate design skills and love of natural items with the science of Staging. Using my experience in connecting with people of varying abilities, cultures and values and the education behind decorating and marketing have all brought me success in the love of my business over the years. Seeing the relief and joy on my clients' faces and in their heartfelt words is why I continue to feel passionate to bring my clients their most valued spaces. Having a space that feeds your needs and supports your energy is my goal for everyone I meet.

Describe and demonstrate, including metrics, your community support. How do you support and uplift your community, and how do they show that support in return? Minimum 25 words, maximum 2500 characters.

Over the years I have lived in White Rock, community has been a large focus for me. Volunteering in the community I live in and the communities around it are important to me. A large part of who I am is an advocate for less privileged communities such as: People with Varying Abilities (I have worked and volunteered for over 20 years at Reach Child & Youth Development Society in Delta, recently transforming their building with discounted decorating services), LGBTQ+ Community (I have volunteered and donated to the White Rock Pride Society for the past 4 years), Youth (International Minor Hockey League volunteering for AGM, fundraising and silent auction support), Volunteering to support other small businesses: Pride window displays, video interviews for Community Connections on Youtube (Local women in small business)- pop-up vendor setup support, social media posting and support for local businesses such as: The Handpicked Home, Outdoor Decor and Design, Resilient Women in Business, Connect Now Business Networking Group. Offering Complimentary Education to local Real Estate Agencies (presentation on "The Benefits of Staging in Today's Market")

Why do you deserve to win the Business Impact award?

I believe that I would be a great candidate to win the Business Impact Award as I have offerred support to many businesses who have been nominated or have won this award previously. I feel the true impact a business can offer isn't necessarily only the success of that business, but how that business owner has helped to impact the success of their business and many others.

Tell Us About Your Culture. How are you creating a sustainable and healthy workplace where everyone feels welcome? Provide examples of leadership you show in interactions with clients, vendors, contractors, staff and others.

My background in working with people with varying abilities in non-profit has greatly supported my business culture. It's important for me to connect with my clients on a personal level; using active listening, intuition and gaining intentional input from others is important to the success of my business and the relationships within it. It is important to me to communicate clearly and have a strong understanding and level of trust between everyone involved in a workspace. I use low-waste, healthy products that won't harm the air or environment as Mother Earth is our number one client to be accountable to. When working with others, it is important to me to save space for their needs and wants, honouring everyone within the space- the way that I work towards this is by connecting with everyone within the space and asking for their input on the project and how they see their needs being met within the scope. My previous training in asking difficult questions, learning my bias' and learning about Indigenous and many other cultures different than my own, has provided me with a strong sense of patience, humbleness and openness to ask the hard questions while offering a safe, trustworthy landing spot for education and communication with others. My willingness to learn and be open to others; ideas and experiences is part of what makes me successful with my business relationships in life.

People's Choice

Why do you think you should win the Premier’s People’s Choice Award?

The Premier's People's Choice Award is a highly prestigious award. Styled Staging and Design has been supporting the communities of Delta, South Surrey and White Rock since well before our inception seven years ago. Offering support in the communities that have supported and surrounded us will always be a large part of how we design the life we want for ourselves and our community. Winning the Premier's People's Choice Award would help us reach more potential clients and better highlight our reach in the community.
