Business Impact Award

Tell Us Your Story. What motivated you to start your business? Why are you passionate about what you do?

Woman, Life, Freedom - As immigrants, we are so glad for living in a country that respects gender equality. But if we live in a world with gender discrimination, there is no relief. Saadi Shirazi, one of the greatest Persian poets who is recognized for the quality of his writings and for the depth of his social and moral thoughts, about 800 years ago said: “Human beings [Sons of Adam] are parts of each other, For in creation, they are from one essence. If one part is afflicted with pain, Other parts uneasy will remain.” As you know in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the vocals of women are banned and women are not allowed to sing. There are so many hidden gems who would not find the opportunity to show their talents and lead in the right direction to succeed. In this regard, almost one year before the woman's freedom movement started, we tried to make a difference in our community, so we decided to be the voice of the young woman artists in Iran, who unfairly have been banned from singing, by introducing them to the Persian community in Canada. So, we planned for a music contest - that is called Metronome - where women sing in Iran and send us the Video. We show their performances to a group of well-known artists living outside of Iran and they give their points. Then we publish an episode each month on our platforms and Persians in Canada can vote too. This show – it is season 2 now- is very successful, so support from Persians and Non-Persians in Canada, especially in BC, went significantly beyond our expectations. Besides that, we have another popular program called Billboard which we introduce young and talented musicians and singers who live in Iran. We have had 52 episodes of the billboard by now with them we have made a mutual connection with the color of the hope of freedom. Also last year we made a short film for Women`s day. the film is called “The Crack” and it is about a young girl who lives in a small city in the south of Iran. She paints buildings and repairs cracks in the walls. But there are serious and devastating cracks in her life that she can not repair by herself. The Cracks are made by sexual harassment at work, and by gender discrimination and violation at home. We took a big risk by shooting this film in Iran because we wanted to show the ambiance in the most realistic way possible. this film was watched and cheered hundreds of times in Canada by Persians and non-Persians.

Describe and demonstrate, including metrics, your community support. How do you support and uplift your community, and how do they show that support in return? Minimum 25 words, maximum 2500 characters.

We support our community with multimedia arts and content that we create based on gender equality and specialty freedom for women in Iran. for instance, we have Metronome music contests and the Billboard on a monthly basis for Iranian women in Iran even though it is still risky for us but we believe that together we can make this world a better place.

On top of that, we created an E-Store where Persians and Farsi speakers in Canada who are far from their motherland country can watch the best Persian theater dramas, online.
