Tell Us Your Story. What motivated you to start your business? Why are you passionate about what you do?

I have been a professional Makeup Artist for over 16 years. I studied at Blanche McDonald and Make Up Ever Academy in Paris for airbrushing and worked in management for companies such as Make-up for Ever, Nars, and Shoppers Beauty Boutique. My work has been featured in Huffington Post, Daily Mail, Cosmopolitan, and much more. In 2016 I was introduced to Clean Beauty. I fell head over heels in love with the integrity of Clean but could not find products that held up to my precise professional standards. So, I took matters into my own hands and created MisMacK Clean Cosmetics from the ground up in my small-town basement in Canoe, BC, while working alongside two female Canadian Chemists. I grew out of my basement and into two storefronts during a Global Pandemic. My biggest saying is that makeup does not define you, it's merel a tool of empowerment. Makeup is a very vulnerable thing to talk about, especially when you are a no-makeup wearer but want to learn how to bring out your beautiful natural features. I seek to educate and empower humans everywhere to ignite their creativity, have fun with makeup/self-care, and be unapologetically themselves by providing a safe, inclusive, educational, non-judgmental atmosphere along with safe products that are good for you and the environment.

MisMacK would not be where it is today without my small-town community support of Salmon Arm. The community helped me grow out of my basement and into 2 storefronts during a Global Pandemic which is grown us into 6 figure business. From winning season 5 of Shuswap Launch A Preneaur which helped me launch our products back in May 2019 to supporting MisMacK during the lockdown. I would actually drive around door-to-door for drop-offs. Now to building Brand Concept Stores, seriously would not be able to do it without my community believing in me.

MisMacK welcomes everyone who walks through our doors. MisMacK'ers may wear a full face of makeup every day or just a little bit of skincare. It's not about the products. The MisMacK Tribe is about empowering each other to feel confident in their own skin. MisMacK'ers share experiences, with the change they want to see in the world of beauty that unites them. Our Tribe is built by supporting all humans, making the beauty industry a more welcoming space. A place where you can feel comfortable trying new things, exploring your own definition of beauty, and being your amazing authentic self. Makeup is a very vulnerable thing to talk about, especially when you are a no-makeup wearer but want to learn how to bring out your beautiful natural features. We seek to educate and empower humans everywhere to ignite their creativity, have fun with makeup/self-care, and be unapologetically themselves by providing a safe, inclusive, educational, non-judgmental atmosphere along with safe products that are good for you and the environment. We pride ourselves on our client experience. The same ethics go into our team training. We've had multiple LGBTQ+ clients come to us for lessons as they feel comfortable coming to us to learn and horn in on their skills. It's the most awarding feeling in the world to watch a client come in with low confidence and leave standing up straight ready to conquer the world with newfound confidence. Last spring we offered Youth Empowerment workshops for ages 8 to 12 educating youth on body positivity. We've seen their confidence grow in themselves over the past year. We've had clients in their 60's/70's do makeup lesson and leave in tears because they never thought they could apply makeup feel so amazing about themselves.

MisMacK is for those who have ever felt unwelcome by the cosmetics industry. For anyone who has walked into a department store and has felt inadequate. MisMacK is for those who have had to settle at one point. For anyone who has had to choose between product performance and the quality of ingredients behind it. MisMacK is for those who have been left disappointed by a brand. For anyone who has felt like they were deceived by a brand's marketing. MisMacK is for the bold and the shy. For the makeup pro and the beauty newbie. MisMacK is for humans everywhere who want more from their products. For humans who want to have fun and enjoy the self-care aspect of beauty without compromising their health.
