Why do you think you should win the Premier’s People’s Choice Award?
Boom is a pandemic success story. After losing my beloved job at Tourism Kamloops during the pandemic, I started as a one-woman show honing in on the connections, skills and passion I have for BC Small Businesses and our Tourism sector. In the early days, I believe that Boom was fueled by my past employment and experiences at Sun Peaks Resort, Rocky Mountaineer, Tourism Kamloops, and the City of Kamloops. I've always been sure to keep strong working relationships with past employers and have a passion for our region and the small businesses within it, and each position I held prior to Boom helped form connections, professional relationships and the knowledge I was able to put forward when founding Boom. Flash forward to today, just over 2 years later and Boom has 3 departments: Business Solutions, Graphics, and People Solutions (HR Consulting), 13 WILDLY talented and amazing subcontractors, and Boom currently holds two temporary contracts with Tourism Kamloops and two ongoing contracts with the City of Kamloops. This is the part of the story where listeners always say 'talk about going full circle' and to be honest, it makes me feel proud to continue to be part of our small business and tourism industries here in BC, and even more proud of what the team I have made Boom into in the past 2+ years.
