As COVID-19 restrictions lift across British Columbia, March offers an awesome opportunity to get out and support the small businesses that have weathered the challenges of the pandemic. Some have pivoted to serve new audiences; some grew their online presence to help their community stay safe. However they managed to survive, show your appreciation this month by shopping local and showing some love for our incredible entrepreneurs.
March is also a month of renewal and new beginnings. The days are getting longer, temperatures are slowly rising, and spring is finally in the air! New beginnings are on the way and this transformational time is perfect to do a little ‘spring cleaning’ of your small business.
For starters, we’re excited to announce the launch of SmartMove. A partnership between Immigrant Services Society of BC (ISSofBC) and Small Business BC, SmartMove helps to reduce labour market shortages by connecting small businesses with qualified newcomers to Canada. With International Women’s Day taking place on March 8th, why not join us for our annual International Women’s Day panel discussion? This year, we’re discussing biases in the workplace, and ways we can work together to accelerate equality for women at work. This important conversation will be moderated by Lindsay Dent, Woman of Influence for the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards.
Women and gender diverse entrepreneurs: Your voice is requested to address systemic barriers to accessing funding. This survey, which will only take 15 minutes to complete, will help understand and improve access to loan funds, with a particular focus on intersectional barriers. Respondents will be entered into one of two draws for $250
