Brian is one of BC’s most successful and well-loved business men, with accolades that include Globe & Mail’s Top 40 under 40 and Fortune Magazine’s Small Business Best Bosses Award. In 2012 he became a CEO Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Inductee with the the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization.
He is an entrepreneur recognized for his passion, vision and faith in people. “I’m surrounded by smart, innovative, motivated people and that fills me with inspiration,” he explains. It’s his value in the people in his organizations that he sees as his biggest strength as an entrepreneur. “I learned a long time ago that I couldn’t afford to compromise on the quality of people I hired. I had to treat them the right way and offer them a culture in which they could thrive and grow in their careers.”
Brian started his first business at the age of 18 in Vancouver. He later went on to franchise that company – 1-800-GOT-JUNK? – as a way to expand his operations. Today he has more than 850 trucks on the road, throughout Canada, the US and Australia. In 2012 he met the founder of a unique, one-day painting company and together they made the franchise WOW 1 DAY Painting. He launched his third brand, You Move Me in 2013. In the first eight months of that business, he recorded $5.17 million, which he predicts will be $14 million by the end of 2014, with an estimated 42 franchises.
