Healthy Employees and Healthy Finances: Keys to Growing Your Business from the Inside-Out

When you’re caught up in the big picture of building your business, it can be easy to lose sight of seemingly smaller operational details. However, there’s a lot more to growing a successful business than a master plan to increase sales or expand locations.

As you work to grow your business it becomes more important than ever to make sure you have a keen eye on the two things that allow you to keep your business’ doors open in the first place: well-managed finances, and the health and happiness of your employees.

Although managing your cash flow is a big concern when you first start your business, as your business grows and your financial obligations expand, you have to pay even more attention to when money goes out and when money comes in.

You also need to stay on top of money management-related expenses and consider what investment opportunities can make your business’ cash-based assets work for you. For instance, if you continually deposit money into a business bank account that charges high fees but bears little interest, you’re needlessly eating into your business’ profitability.

Similarly, while simply hiring more employees to get more work done in your business may seem like a sure path to growth and increased profits, run-away HR costs related to absenteeism and high turnover can quickly spiral out of control.

Because people spend such a significant portion of their waking days at work, it’s important to foster a healthy workplace environment that promotes personal wellness. Doing so will help keep your employees engaged, healthy and happy, and that will save you money on recruitment and lost productivity over the long term.
