British Columbia is a province built on entrepreneurs and their hard work. Each day, they wake up energized to grow their businesses and pursue their passions. Their stories might seem unremarkable to some, but they’re the represent a dream come true, and they’re tales we’re passionate about sharing.
True Calling Media shares the same belief. They have been our Small Business BC Awards video partner for several years, embedding themselves with our finalists to spotlight the work they do, and showcase the passions that fuel them.
We wanted to take this opportunity to introduce True Calling, and discuss the ways they support and uplift businesses across BC.
Introducing True Calling
True Calling is a full-service production company that’s been operating since 2015. They focus on stories that matter and people finding happiness in their day-to-day lives. They seek out people from all walks of life to understand their journeys and how they found purpose and joy through what they love to do.
They are the perfect fit to tell the stories of success and resilience from our community, and Small Business BC is proud to partner with this incredible team for our video production.
Supporting Small Businesses
True Calling are a dedicated team of video professionals based in Vancouver. Over the years, we have worked with them to spotlight our Awards finalists, many of whom are located in remote corners of our province.
To help meet this demand True Calling works with local camera crews in the regions, supporting local creators and leaning on their local knowledge to create spectacular videos.
“True Calling Media tells stories of people who love what they do,” said CEO, Martin Fisher.
“We’re on a mission to tell positive, cool stories because we feel it’s a good time for positivity. Good stories don’t get told enough these days and the world needs some good news.
“When we shoot with a subject, we really like to dig into their past and find out about the journey they’ve been on. We’ve found that it’s rarely ever a straight line. We love getting to know how people got to their happy place and it’s usually a very interesting story to tell.”
Case Study – Atlin Coffee Roasters
Located in BC’s far north, Atlin is a tiny town on the traditional lands of the Taku River Tlingits peoples. Backdropped by stunning mountains and clear lakes, the town is only accessible by road from Whitehorse in Yukon, or Skagway in Alaska.
Atlin Coffee Roasters was first established in 2013, with owners and partners Philippe and Leandra specializing in wood-fire roasted, organic coffee mailed all across North America to a loyal community of subscribers. The owners wanted to base themselves somewhere where they could live with the land and use sustainable methods. Atlin was the perfect choice.
To tell their story effectively, True Calling leaned on a camera crew from Whitehorse, who made the trek south to film a day in the life of the business. They spent time with Philippe and Leandra, getting to know the people and the place behind this small business story.
Take a look at the results for yourself.
